Shortly after announcing that the Outlander cast would attend New York Comic Con for the first time, EP Maril Davis confirmed an appearance at San Diego Comic Con isn’t happening.

Many people expected that Outlander would have a panel at San Diego Comic Con 2018. However, EP Maril Davis has confirmed that this isn’t happening, shortly after Claire and Jamie reported that the cast would attend New York Comic Con for the first time. This is disappointing for many, but also understandable.

The lack of appearance at SDCC isn’t anything to worry about. It’s likely a strategic decision, especially with the current convention schedule and updated filming and promotional appearances from the main cast. SDCC is in July, which is also when Sam Heughan will be filming new movie Bloodshot, doing promo work for A Spy Who Dumped Me, and when there are multiple other conventions.

More from Outlander News

Outlander Season 4 is planned for a November premiere, so NYCC 2018 makes more sense for major con appearance to promote the series. New York Comic Con 2018 takes place over Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, Oct. 4-7, much closer to the November premiere date. San Diego made more sense last year as the Season 3 premiere was in September.

We still don’t have an official date for the Season 4 premiere. We may now not get that until New York Comic Con. We’ve predicted November 4 or 18 as the date for the release, so giving us a specific date a month before the release would certainly offer some good timing. This would also be a good time for a final promo or the last teaser before the season. Now we just have to wait until October for all this information. What are we going to do until then?
