Outlander cast attending New York Comic Con for first time this year
The Outlander cast will attend New York Comic Con 2018, making their first-ever appearance. What does this mean for San Diego Comic Con?
Starz has confirmed that Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Sophie Skelton, and Richard Rankin will attend New York Comic Con 2018. This marks the first time the Outlander cast have ever attended NYCC, although the show has done a panel at the event before–Showrunner Ron D. Moore and novel series author Diana Gabaldon held a panel in 2013 to promote the new series.
Since then, the Outlander cast has attended San Diego Comic Con and the same was expected this year. However, it’s getting close to the date for the San Diego event and nothing has been mentioned yet. With the November premiere for Outlander Season 4, I’d personally started to wonder whether Starz was going to hold off SDCC this year and concentrate on NYCC instead.

While NYCC is smaller than its West Coast counterpart, it is growing in popularity. Many of the smaller network shows tend to focus on this event, including the likes of The Man in the High Castle, Krypton, and Star Trek: Discovery. Even The Walking Dead has opted for appearances at NYCC in the past because it is a growing convention.
What does this mean about Outlander at San Diego Comic-Con 2018? So far, it doesn’t mean anything! There’s still a chance the cast will attend. However, there are a lot of other conventions in July and some of the cast have filming and promotional schedules to honor. With the November premiere date, Starz may decide that SDCC isn’t the important convention of the year.
During NYCC 2018, the Outlander cast will discuss the fourth season and there may be a teaser or a first-look promo.
