Outlander Season 4 spoilers: Who is Lizzie Wemyss?

Caitlin O’Ryan has been cast in the role of Lizzie Wemyss in Outlander Season 4, we will break down who she is, and why she’s important next season.
One of the latest additions to the Outlander Season 4 cast is Caitlin O’Ryan, who will play Lizzie Wemyss. The great thing about O’Ryan is she’s a newcomer to television and will be making her acting debut, which means fans won’t have pre-conceived roles they have to fight through to get to Lizzie.
Fair warning to those who have not yet read the books, there are spoilers from “Drums of Autumn” in this article so stop reading here if you don’t want details revealed.

Lizzie is first introduced after Brianna has passed through the stones. She must go through Scotland to find her mother and then will eventually need to cross the Atlantic in order to reunite with them. While at the docks Brianna and her uncle, Ian, are searching for a man to accompany Bri in order to keep her safe, but instead Brianna settles on Lizzie as a companion after Lizzie’s father begs her to take her to the new world so that she would not be sold as a concubine.
Once they arrive in America (or what would eventually be America) Lizzie plays an integral role in a very important mix-up that leads to potential disaster for much of the Fraser family.
Though Lizzie sometimes overreacts, Brianna would not dare to leave her behind. Brianna feels personally responsible for the girl after she contracts malaria on the crossing to the Carolinas. Because of this, Lizzie will eventually become a part of the Fraser family, much like how Fergus did.
Lizzie is described in the book as sickly, meek, quiet, and fearful.
Who is Caitlin O’Ryan?
O’Ryan is a brand new Scottish actress who graduated from the Oxford School of Drama.
We will likely see O’Ryan midseason as we’ll first need to see Briana coming through the stones and find her aunt and uncle before she is even introduced, but once we see her in the series she will become a regular. O’Ryan’s IMDb profile hasn’t been created at press time, so it’s difficult to see the number of episodes she will be in exactly.
