Should Outlander Season 4 have more extended episodes?
Outlander has had one extended episode per season so far, but is that enough? Should Outlander Season 4 have more extended episodes?
There’s been a slight problem with Outlander, especially the third season. While the showrunners want to have some creative license and include favorite elements of the books, there is only so much time to dedicate to everything. Could that be fixed in Outlander Season 4 with more extended episodes?
After all, Outlander has included one extended episode per season so far. Maybe now is the time for Starz to offer more time per episode. Would a 75- to 80-minute episode be everything the showrunners need to include it all?

I shouldn’t really need to explain my reasoning for this, right? Of course, we’d love more Outlander! Having more extended episodes means including almost everything.
There are so many deleted scenes that I’d have loved to see in the second and third season. Yes, there are some from Season 1, but Seasons 2 and 3 had some crucial elements cut out for the sake of time and story. Had the episodes had more time things like the Goodnight Moon scene and Lord John Grey’s story could have been shown in more detail. There would have been the perfect chance in “Faith” for that deleted scene between Claire and Jamie–a necessary one in my opinion.
Why it wouldn’t work
It’s hard to condense so much content into a season. For the most part, the showrunners and writers have done it well. They’ve added their own touch, found elements that simply cannot be mixed, and told the story to the best of their ability. Okay, so some of you will definitely disagree, but I’ve liked what they’ve done with the story for the most part.
Extending more episodes wouldn’t necessarily work. There’s something special about one extended episode each season. We know it’s going to be an action-packed episode, full of detail and beauty. It’s an episode we look forward to and is timed to bring in the most viewers. Extending all would take away the special feeling of the individual episodes.
Maybe extending an extra two or three episodes would work. That would still make the extended episodes special and offer extra elements that the show needs.
