The Outlander season 3 finale involved the Artemis shipwrecking on the Georgia coast.
Before starting, it’s important to point out that there are spoilers in this. Those who haven’t read the books may want to avoid the points at the bottom. The other points can be found through Twitter or in statements made about cast members for Outlander season 4, so technically aren’t spoilers.
In the Outlander season 3 finale, the fates of everyone were put into the hands of the sea. Jamie ordered everyone below deck, knowing that it was going to be impossible to sail in the stormy weather. While fans watched as Claire went overboard, Jamie dived into the water to save her, and they washed ashore in Georgia, the fates of the others were left unknown.

However, fans can already take solace in the knowledge that there are three important characters who will definitely be saved. There have been multiple signs that this is going to happen. Here are the three ways fans know who will survive the shipwreck.
Actors are confirmed for season 4
The biggest giveaway is the fact that certain actors have been confirmed for Outlander season 4. John Bell, Lauren Lyle and César Domboy are all confirmed, meaning Young Ian, Marsali, and Fergus have survive the shipwreck.
Well, they don’t have to but there are high chances that they will. They could be in for flashbacks and memories, but chances are that all three will return for the majority of the season.
Actors were involved in a pre-season 3 finale message
There was a little bit of spoiling from the Outlander cast just before the season 3 finale. The cast got together in a message shared on Twitter, including Bell, Lyle, and Domboy. While they wouldn’t usually be a problem, it was the costumes that gave a lot away.
They certainly weren’t in their season 3 costumes. In fact, they looked like they were in a home, suggesting that they all make it to Georgia. While fans were left wondering about the shipwreck, many just had to look at this video to know that all three would return for the fourth season alive and well.
The books are a giveaway
While there have certainly been changes to “Voyager,” the bones of the story are the same. That means “Drums of Autumn” is likely to remain the same. Some of the biggest changes involved Fergus and Marsali being on the Artemis (they should have been safely tucked away in Jamaica) but they are crucial characters moving forward in the novel series.
That’s all that will be said about this to avoid major spoilers for the books fans. Just know that all three are part of the books moving forward, so they have to survive the shipwreck.
