5 Reasons Sophie Turner will never be Brianna Fraser on ‘Outlander’

Droughtlander has officially infected the news media. A lot of speculation has been made over an innocent tweet Sam Heughan sent about who he would like to play his daughter, Brianna Fraser on the show Outlander. Most people took the comment for what it was, just an answer to a question. Some news outlets took it as a job invitation for Sophie Turner of Game of Thrones. Here are five reasons why Sophie Turner would never become Brianna Fraser.

The ginger haired beauty, Sophie Turner is a fairly well-known English actress. She is most known for her portrayal of Sansa Stark on the hit television series on HBO, Game of Thrones. She started acting at a very young age on stage, but her big break was in 2011 when she was cast in the television show Game of Thrones. She might not have a million reasons to stay on Game of Thrones, but I am sure it is in the six digit range. Here are 5 top reasons why Sophie would not leave Game of Thrones.

5. Loyalty-Sophie started on Game of Thrones and gave her a big break. It would have to be a  significant film or television role for her to leave her role as Sansa Stark. Going to the show Outlander to play Brianna Fraser would be more of a lateral move and would tie her down to a series for six to seven more years.

4. Money-As mention before we do not know exacly how much Sophie makes on Game of Thrones. She recently received a pay raise and an option for season seven. Sophie is a second tier character as far as compensation is concerned. Game of Thrones top tier characters is earning in the millions; she can not be that far down from them. Outlander would have to outspend Game of Thrones to land Sophie. That might be a hard sell for Outlander producers.

3. Accent-The Outlander character Brianna Fraser is an American from the 1960’s. Sophie is an English actress who has dabbled with the American accent in the 2015 films X-Men: Apocalypse and Barly Lethal, but it is unproven. It is not to say she could not do an American accent if asked. Many English actors have an excellent American accent, but we just have not seen Sophie do it.

2. Too well known-The producers of Outlander have steered away from using actors who are household names on the show. The more seasoned actors tend to be the ones who play older characters. The main actors Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were fairly new to the acting world when they were cast on Outlander. I think the show would be better served if they found an actress who is looking for her big break and would be will to stay on the show long-term.

1. Did you see last season of Game of Thrones-Sophie’s character Sansa Stark is now a player in Game of Thrones. Her storyline was finally expanded from eating lemon cakes to seeking vengeance for her family.  Her storyline is only going to get larger unless they kill her off. Not saying it is out of the realm of possibility’s but I wouldn’t hold your breath.

I think Sophie Turner would make a great Brianna Fraser on Outlander. I just do not see that happening right now.

Tell us in the comments what do you think about Sophie Turner joining Outlander?
