3 best Roger moments in Outlander Season 5, Episode 5
Roger had one of those episodes that was all about working out his internal feelings. Here are his three best moments from Outlander Season 5, Episode 5.
Outlander Season 5, Episode 5 allowed Roger the chance to find out the truth about Bonnet. It wasn’t just that Bonnet was alive, but Bree’s real feelings about her rapist. And it meant a lot of soul searching for himself.
The episode shows just how much Roger loves Brianna. But it also shows just why he wants to get out of the past. There’s too much bad that happened, too many dangers around the corner. I continue to defend his thoughts because I find them so relatable.
With all that said, here are Roger’s best moments from Outlander Season 5, Episode 5.
3. Remembering the gem
Roger finds the gem that Bonnet gave Brianna back in Outlander Season 4, Episode 12. We get a quick flashback to show us another time Roger and Bonnet spent some time together. It was while on the ship, with Roger seeing the gem that he had just found in Bree’s jewelry box.
The Bonnet Roger had met would never have just given up the gem out of the kindness of his heart. It led to the reveal that Brianna believes Jemmy really is Bonnet’s child.
2. His talk with Claire
After staying out all night, Roger has a chance to talk to Claire. Bree grew up believing one man was her father and learned when she was 20 that wasn’t the case. It was hard, and Roger had seen the fallout, but it’s not something Claire regrets.
There’s a beautiful talk. I just love that Roger has someone that he can turn to for advice and help. He needs someone in his corner. While Claire is Bree’s mother, she also understands Roger’s point of view in all this. It’s no wonder they can relate so well.
1. Apologizing to Brianna
Once he realizes that he still wants to do right by Bree and Jemmy, Roger heads back to the cabin. He gets the chance to apologize, which is a huge step in their relationship. I adore that they’ve come this far and we get to see them working through their problems. Back in Outlander Season 4, something like this would have led to them arguing and walking away from each other.
It ends with Roger’s reminder that they can get back to their own time when they find out that Jemmy can travel. It’s still not something Brianna is sure she wants, but Roger believes that their own time is safer. And who can blame him?
