Outlander Book 9 daily lines: A change of hair color?
We know there’s something significant coming when it comes to Claire’s hair color. Do the Outlander Book 9 daily lines hint that’s coming very soon?
Something significant is coming. This was hinted at back in “Drums of Autumn,” and the show writers left it in during Outlander Season 4. It may happen in Book 9 based on the daily lines.
Naturally, there are some spoilers in this post if you don’t like reading the daily lines. Diana Gabaldon reveals snippets of Book 9, titled “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone,” but she does take out the major spoilers. We get just teases of events to happen.
More from Spoilers
- Did Bree and Lord John Grey marry in Outlander?
- Outlander Season 7B: Will Diarmaid Murtagh return as Buck MacKenzie?
- Outlander Season 7B: Will Chris Fulton return as Rob Cameron?
- Will Dottie be in Outlander Season 7B?
- 3 characters who definitely won’t return in Outlander Season 7B
And one of those events was revealed at the end of the latest snippet. It’s a scene involving Claire, Jamie, and a baby. The snippet doesn’t make it clear who’s the baby is, but it sounds like it’s someone close to Claire and Jamie. When the baby is taken away, the Frasers have a chance to talk. That’s when we get the all-important line: “What color is my hair?”
Claire asks that, and it immediately set of alarm bells. In “Drums of Autumn,” Nayawenne (Adawehi in Season 4), tells Claire that she will come into her full powers when her hair turns white. Is that event going to happen during the ninth book?
We know that Claire has healing powers. There were hints of this even before Nayawenne said anything. Claire had knowledge of Jamie’s hand injuries that she wouldn’t have had without x-rays. She was able to treat people with illnesses and ailments before she even knew anything. This was further shown in “The Fiery Cross.”
And we can’t overlook other abilities Claire has had. She knew how Geillis had died just by holding the bones in the 20th century. She knew who the skeleton belonged to, although couldn’t give the skeleton a name.
We’ve watched (well, more like read) her abilities grow throughout the next books. As her hair has turned whiter, she’s become a more successful healer, and not just because of her knowledge of the 20th-century medicine. However, it looks like we’re finally going to see her come into her full powers towards the end of Outlander Book 9 and into the 10th and final boo.

Outlander Book 9 is still being written and will likely be released early 2020.
