The first official trailer for Bloodshot is finally out and we got a first look at Sam Heughan’s character. He looks like a villain but is that the case?

After months of waiting, we finally have our first look at Sam Heughan in his new movie, Bloodshot. The trailer was released yesterday, and we immediately gained a few burning questions. One of the biggest is whether he’s going to be the villain of the story.

It certainly looks that way. There are only a few shots, but Heughan is playing a technologically-enhanced Navy SEAL. Part of that advancement involves spider-like mechanical legs coming from his back. And his expressions are stern enough to suggest bad guy.

But before we jump to conclusions from a few seconds shots, let’s consider the overall storyline. If you haven’t read the comics, you’ll only be working on the information from the trailer. But even this should be enough to make you question Heughan’s role.

You see, Heughan’s character isn’t the only one that’s received technological enhancements. Vin Diesel’s character has, too. And we see throughout the promo that these people who run the technology don’t have the most innocent plans. They’re changing Bloodshot’s memories, forcing him to kill the people they tell him.

Could this be something they’re doing to Heughan’s character, too? It’s certainly highly possible. Heughan’s character could be trained to view Bloodshot as the enemy, but it turns out that they’re both being manipulated and on the same side.

Those who have read the comics will know how Bloodshot’s storyline will play out. Do you really think Bloodshot isn’t going to remember everything eventually and realize who the real villains of the story are?

Bloodshot will be out in theaters in February 2020.
