More Outlander Season 5 images have been released, giving us a sneak peek of things to come. This time we get a look at the relationships that are potentially changing throughout the season.

Very little is known about the fifth season. The cast and crew have remained tight-lipped, with no official casting announcements been announced from the network yet. By this point during the Season 3-4 Droughtlander, we’d at least had a few casting announcements, including Maria Doyle Kennedy as Jocasta and Ed Speleers as Stephen Bonnet.

The images for the fifth season don’t give too much away but tease some of the changing and growing relationships. One of those images is that of Brianna and Roger. It’s clear that the two are sticking around in the past, which is something that comes up in the trailer for Season 5. In the image of the couple, Brianna is standing behind Roger with a musket, teaching him how to shoot.

Roger is the one least prepared for the past, despite his knowledge and love of history. Claire had enough of a knowledge of herbs, while Brianna had learned a few tricks from Frank about surviving in the past. Roger is the one to feel the most out of place in the past.

While Bree and Roger’s relationship continues to develop, images of Outlander Season 5 show us that Jamie and Lord John Grey will meet again. This is despite John not being physically in the fifth book, although he is mentioned through letters. It looks like John will have some sort of role in the militia, giving us a chance to see Jamie and John on the same side of the war.

This is only temporary, of course. Claire knows that the Patriots will eventually win the war. Jamie and Claire will eventually switch to that side and that means against Lord John Grey. How much will the knowledge of things to come weigh down on Claire and Jamie in the coming season?

Although, I will admit that taking a look at John’s clothing, he could be there for the wedding. Considering the friendship that formed between John and Brianna during the fourth season, it makes sense that he would be invited to the wedding.

There’s also a chance to see Murtagh and Jamie’s relationship continue to grow and change. This is one of those relationships that is going to be difficult. The two have always been on the same side of a coming war. This time Jamie has been given orders to kill Murtagh. Naturally, Jamie won’t be able to go through with the orders, but how much will he do to make it look like he’s following through?

Other images show us Brianna with her mother. Claire seems to have performed surgery on someone, judging by the blood on her hands, but it’s not clear whether the surgery hasn’t been successful. It looks like Brianna is comforting her mother, suggesting that Claire couldn’t do everything she wanted—or everything possible in the 1960s.

Another image gives us Roger with Jocasta and Ulysses. With Roger and Brianna’s wedding coming up, this image shouldn’t be all that surprising. Jocasta will want to pass River Run onto Brianna, which means Roger would inherit it. Jocasta would want to make sure this man is worthy.

There are plenty of questions about Outlander Season 5. This is just a hint of things to come.
