Could John Bell be getting ready for Young Ian’s transformation in Outlander?
If the show sticks to the books and the actor is available, we’ll see Young Ian again in Outlander. Is John Bell getting ready for that?
If the show plans to stick to the books for Young Ian’s storyline, we’ll see the character (and trusty Rollo) again. Of course, this is as long as actor John Bell remains available. It looks like Bell may be getting ready for Young Ian’s transformation in Outlander.
As a polite warning, we’re going to be discussing things from “The Fiery Cross” and beyond. If you’re behind on the books and would prefer not to know what happens, this is the time to turn away. Otherwise, let’s get into theorizing what could happen for Young Ian in Outlander Season 5 and beyond.

The last we saw of Young Ian, he traded himself for Roger. Quickly doing the gauntlet and proving his worth as part of the Mohawk tribe, he was welcomed in. However, he’s not going to stay with the Mohawks forever, and I won’t get into all the details why. Just know that he and the Mohawks agree that he’s best returning to his family.
This happens at the end of “The Fiery Cross,” which means it should happen at the end of Outlander Season 5. And we know that the show is getting close to the end.
Recent photos of John Bell on Instagram suggest that he’s getting ready for the transformation. He’s shaved his head. While this could be just a personal choice, it could also be to get ready for the hairpieces needed for when he returns to his family. After all, he would have adopted the look of the Mohawks during his time with them.
Young Ian certainly lights up the screen whenever he’s on it. It’s been fun watching him grow as a character from a young teen to a young man. I’m ready for his transformation to the Young Ian of the Mohawk tribe. Are you?
