Saturn Awards 2019: Outlander claims victory in one category
Outlander was nominated in five categories for the Saturn Awards 2019. The show one in one of those categories and here are the details.
It’s wasn’t the huge success that we hoped for, but Sassenachs are certainly celebrating. Out of the five nominations it received in the Saturn Awards 2019, Outlander walked away with a win. More importantly, Sam Heugham walked away with the win for Best Actor in a Television Series.
He’s often overlooked in the awards show, not even nominated for the Emmys or Golden Globes despite being a worthy contender. It’s excellent to say that he’s walked away with a win at the Saturn Awards, after being nominated for the previous four years (the first year for Best Supporting Actor on Television, although I’m not sure how the leading male can be a supporting actor).

Sam Heughan fought off Grant Gustin for The Flash, Kit Harington for Game of Thrones, Andrew Lincoln for The Walking Dead, and many more. It’s about time he won something and got the recognition he deserves.
Outlander had five nominations throughout the awards. Caitriona Balfe was up for Best Actress in a Television Series, but lost to Emilia Clarke in Game of Thrones. I’ll admit that I was proud for Clarke, who certainly showed her descent into madness well throughout the GoT final episodes.
Danai Gurira beat Sophie Skelton for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series for her role as Michonne in The Walking Dead. It was The Walking Dead again that beat Ed Speleers, as Jeffrey Dean Morgan walked away with the Best Guest Performance in a Television Series.
And what about the Best Fantasy TV Series? The win went to Game of Thrones. Since it’s the fantasy series’ last year to compete, there is a chance that Outlander could walk away with it next year.

Meanwhile, at the time of writing this, there are still two hours left to vote in the Fantasy Fight Club. Jamie Fraser is up against Thor. Right now, it’s clear that the King of Men will become the King of Fantasy Fight Club. It’s a double win for Heughan!
