6 Outlander guests confirmed for New York Comic-Con 2019
New York Comic-Con 2019 will be here before we know it. There are now six confirmed Outlander guests for the panel, along with a location. Here’s all we know so far.
Yesterday, we found out when the end of Droughtlander would happen (it’s Feb. 16, by the way). Along with the news of the Outlander Season 5 premiere was a list of stars coming to New York Comic-Con 2019. There are six confirmed guests so far, and some of them are certainly intriguing.
We already knew that Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan are attending the panel. As the main stars of the series, this wasn’t that surprising to hear. They’re the first two confirmed officially in the report from Entertainment Weekly when the renewal date was announced.

Diana Gabaldon is also going to be there. She’s the only none-actor guest so far. None of the EPs have been confirmed for the panel yet, which is definitely interesting. This could be due to filming still going on at the time. Matt B. Roberts, Maril Davis, and Toni Graphia will want to be in Scotland as filming with some of the other characters may be taking place at this point.
Having Gabaldon there is excellent. There was a situation last year when she tweeted that she hadn’t been invited to NYCC 2018 but ended up being a surprise guest. New York Comic-Con thought ahead with this year’s announcement.
Who are the other three? They’re all actors on the show, but one especially is curious.
Duncan Lacroix, Maria Doyle Kennedy, and David Berry will all attend NYCC for the first time. It’s easy to understand why Lacroix and Kennedy are there, considering their characters Murtagh and Jocasta will play a part in the Outlander Season 5 storyline, but why Berry? Not that I’m complaining, though!
Lord John Grey doesn’t show up in “The Fiery Cross,” although there are letters mentioned from him. Having Berry at the promotional convention suggests that his character will be part of the season, which means some invention on the show’s part. We knew that there was some reasonable invention for Season 5, and this could be part of it.
Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin are missing from the list of confirmed Outlander guests at NYCC 2019. This could suggest that they’re needed for filming that weekend, which is why alternative guests have been arranged.
The panel will take place at Madison Square Gardens on Saturday, Oct. 5. I’ll admit that I’m disappointed by this because I don’t like that venue, but it does suggest that the big screen is needed and that NYCC knows there will be a large group of people attending.
There will be an autograph signing during the convention. This is something missed at last year’s con, so it’s going to be exciting for fans.
