Diana Gabaldon not invited to New York Comic-Con 2018

When Starz shared the people who would attend New York Comic-Con 2018 for the Outlander panel, there was one person missing. No, it wasn’t a typo in the card. Diana Gabaldon isn’t invited and we’re not okay with that.

Diana Gabaldon isn’t attending many events and conventions this year. Her focus has been on her ninth novel in the Outlander series. However, she was potentially going to attend New York Comic-Con 2018.

Now it turns out that she hasn’t been invited to the Outlander panel. Fans noticed her name not on the Twitter post from Starz and wondered if there was a typo in leaving her off. The author made it very clear that there is a mistake but not a small one like a typo.

Retweeting the details of New York Comic-Con 2018, Diana made it very clear that she hasn’t been invited. Those who attend the panels have to be invited in some way. The convention organizers will invite the shows and then it’s up to the networks and studios on who will attend the panels for the most part.

Starz should have invited Diana Gabaldon. After all, she is Outlander. Without her, there wouldn’t be a show! Fans have immediately shared their disappointment with the network for not inviting the author who created the books and the world in the first place.

To make matters worse, it looks like the Twitter post was the first Diana had even heard about it. She’d previously shared that if the “Creatives” were invited then she would likely go. Even though she’s still working on the ninth book, New York Comic-Con is a chance to promote the fourth season of the series. And a few days out of writing won’t hurt.

Fans will get to see her this weekend, still. Diana Gabaldon is still attending Wizard World Chicago, where she’s also attending Thursday now as well as Saturday like many other cast members due to Caitriona Balfe no longer being able to make it on Saturday.
