Diana Gabaldon may not attend the Creation Ents conventions

Diana Gabaldon has been invited to the official Outlander conventions by Creation Ents. However, she’s stated that she may not attend.

Diana Gabaldon is an extremely busy woman. This summer is full of conventions and engagements, but she is currently trying to find the time to finish her ninth novel in the Outlander series. She shares snippets from “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone” now and then, making it clear that she is working on it. It shouldn’t be surprising to find out that she may not attend the Creation Ents. official Outlander convention, despite being invited to it.

The author of the novels had said at the start of this year that she was going to reduce her traveling. It’s partially the traveling that makes it harder for her to write. She needs to take breaks for convention panels, autographing, and photo ops, as well as taking time off during the actual traveling.

Many fans will be happy to hear that she is putting her writing first. There are plenty of fans eagerly anticipating the ninth book in the series. Considering the length of the novels, it’s not surprising they take time to write. Gabaldon needs to do the research into the historical events used within the novels, especially as the American Revolutionary War is the main setting for the novels now.

It will be disappointing for the fans attending the convention. However, know that the reason for her not attending isn’t because she doesn’t want to see you. It’s because she wants to finish this ninth book for you. There’s a win in this situation for everyone!

She is still attending Wizard World Chicago, where a number of Outlander stars will be.

Unfortunately, she may also not attend New York Comic Con 2018. This event may only be for the cast. However, if the “creatives” are invited, she will likely attend with Ron D. Moore, Matt B. Roberts, Toni Graphia, and other members of the creative team.
