When will Outlander Book 9 be released? Could the publish date be set before or after the premiere of Season 5? Let’s look at the possibilities.

There are lots of questions about the release of both Outlander Book 9 and Season 5. Fans are eager to get both of them (more so with “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone”). We don’t yet have official dates for either. Is it possible that Book 9 will be released before Season 5?

Releasing the ninth book in the series ahead of Season 5 of the TV show would make sense. It would mimic the release of Book 8, titled “Written In My Own Heart’s Blood,” which was released in June 2014 with the first season of the series premiering two months later.

More from Opinion

Diana Gabaldon says that the work on the ninth book is coming along nicely. She anticipates that the writing will be finished by the end of the year. Then it will all depend on the publishers for a release date. There is a chance that we’ll get the novel by the end of 2019, but it could also be the start of 2020.

I’m hoping 2019 and not just because I want to read more. The release would work well for the publishing house and Diana Gabaldon, as it could be timed for pre-Christmas sales. We all know plenty of people who would like the ninth book as a Christmas gift, right?

Even if it is 2020, it’s likely to be early 2020. And that’s likely earlier than the “early 2020” that STARZ says for Outlander Season 5’s premiere date. That premiere is likely to be around February or March. “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone” could be released in January 2020, giving a month or two for fans to read the continuation of the Fraser and MacKenzie families’ stories before delving into the series based on “The Fiery Cross.”
