There are certain moments of The Fiery Cross that Outlander Season 5 can’t skip. One of those moments may be coming up soon judging by this leaked image.

As much as we wish certain things from the Outlander novels won’t happen, there are certain moments that need to. One of those moments happens in “The Fiery Cross,” and it looks like the Season 5 filming may be moving onto it.

As a word of caution, we’ll be getting into the storyline from “The Fiery Cross.” I’ll give you another warning when we’re discussing that particular part so you can avoid the spoiler if you want.

The image was shared on Twitter. It’s not very clear, but it’s set close to a house with the focus on some trees. One fan has drawn an arrow to a particular point and shared an image of a noose next to it.

It looks like someone may be hanged this season. I’ll admit that I can’t quite make out the noose, but I’m not saying it’s not there. It’s just not a very clear image.

This is where we get into the spoilers from “The Fiery Cross” for those who are behind on the books and don’t want to know what actually happens.

Fans who have read the novel will know who is hanged. There are also plenty of fans not ready for it. But as much as we would have loved for the show to skip over this particular heartbreaking part, we know that it has to happen. It has a direct knock-on effect for the rest of the story.

During “The Fiery Cross,” Roger MacKenzie ends up being hanged. It happens towards the end of the Battle of Alamance when Roger chastely kisses Morag MacKenzie and her husband, Buck, sees them. He decides to turn Roger over to the militia, claiming that Roger is a Regulator. He’s hanged for the crime and while he is saved, his voice box is permanently damaged.

It’s a heartbreaking and terrifying moment, and it leads to some major character development. This simply can’t be skipped over.

The timing of the images is interesting. There has been some speculation that Mark Barrett will play Buck, and he is currently filming. It’s all fitting together (heartbreakingly) nicely.
