NYCC 2019: Will the Outlander Season 5 trailer be released then?
We know that Outlander will take to the stage at NYCC 2019. Will we have to wait for an Outlander Season 5 trailer until then?
Hearing that Outlander would be at New York Comic-Con 2019 was excellent news. It’s going to be exciting to hear what’s in store for the Frasers and the MacKenzies as they embark on their new journey. The downside to the announcement is that we may have to wait for an Outlander Season 5 trailer until NYCC 2019.
The production will want to keep something big for the NYCC panel. It works very similarly to San Diego Comic-Con, in the way that there’s something fresh and exciting for those who attend. A trailer for the upcoming season would make sense.

During NYCC 2018, fans were treated to a screening of the first episode. This was only a month from the release of the full season, so the premiere would have been fully finalized in terms of production quality and sound editing. That may not be the case for the 2019 convention.
New York Comic-Con 2019 takes place early October. We know that Season 5 won’t premiere until early 2020, which likely means late February or early March. So, that means four or five months from the date of the convention. While it is possible to get the first episode ready, STARZ may not want people to see the premiere so early.
Instead, a trailer makes more sense. Another option is that fans are treated to an exclusive sneak peek, one that may or may not be made available online at a later date. This gives the fans something exclusive to look forward to before getting into the questions and teases of the season.
The timing of the panel will help us figure out whether it’s going to be a sneak peek or a full episode screening. The first trailer certainly seems likely.
