Diana Gabaldon confirms Jamie’s ghost will still be explained in last book
One of the biggest mysteries in Outlander is all about Jamie’s ghost. Diana Gabaldon has recently confirmed all will be explained in the very last book.
There are many questions and theories floated around about various storylines. One of the biggest mysteries from the very beginning has been about Jamie’s ghost in Outlander. In the books, the description is only given by Frank, but in the show, we see that it’s Jamie looking up at Claire. Diana Gabaldon is routinely asked about Jamie’s ghost.
Gabaldon said before that it would all be explained by the end. Recently, she’s reconfirmed this on Twitter to say that Jamie’s ghost will be explained in the very last book, which is set to be Book 10.

Many fans are eagerly anticipating Book 9, titled “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.” It’s slated to be finished by the end of the year, and hopefully will be published in time for Christmas. If not, then early 2020, hopefully before Outlander Season 5 is released.
However, don’t expect any answers about Jamie’s ghost. Those answers will be saved for the 10th book.
The good news is that Diana Gabaldon already knows the answers to this mystery. This is something that she’s known from the very beginning, so there are likely some clues in the first two books as to how Jamie could be in 1945 (or 1946 depending on the book version/show). There may even be some clues mixed in with Jamie’s ability to astral travel.
What we don’t know is when we’ll get the answers. We know it’s Book 10, but we don’t know when that will be released. It takes a few years to write the next novel, considering the research, the length, and the depth of the stories. For now, we’ve got plenty of time to speculate and theorize ourselves.
