Outlander fans are looking for something to get them through the hiatus. Could The Rook be the show to get you through Droughtlander? It’s possible.

As Outlander fans, we’re all looking for a way to get through the break. On the plus side, we have some updates about filming for Season 5 right now, but it’s still along Droughtlander to get through. You may still have your STARZ subscription and that means The Rook is an option to get through the break.

While it’s not a period drama and it’s certainly not a love story, it is something worth considering for the fantasy element. The Rook is about a woman who wakes up with no memory of events that happened the previous night. However, she’s surrounded by dead bodies and is the main suspect in their deaths.

More from Opinion

For those who turned to Counterpart as a way to get through Droughtlander after Outlander Season 3, you’ll possibly enjoy The Rook. There’s a spy drama element to the series and you’re fed the information slowly to work out the situation along with the main character.

The series is also set in Britain, which will give you another feeling of Outlander. It may be modern-day London but you’ll still hear plenty of the accents from around the country and see the sights of the capital city.

With a strong cast, the show also offers independent women. This is a female-centric show that will make you think, at times, of Claire and Brianna, and even of Jenny, Aunt Jocasta, and others. There will be times you think of the men, as well, although nobody quite like Jamie or Lord John Grey, unfortunately.

One of the best things is that it’s all on STARZ. You can rewatch Outlander between episodes. If you find that you don’t enjoy it after all, you don’t feel like you’ve wasted money for the month. You’ll have your favorite show to watch to make up for it.

This certainly could be a great option for fans during Droughtlander. It’s not completely the same, but then do we really want something that matches Outlander? There’s fun in getting something different, and something we don’t necessarily have most of the answers for.
