Outlander Season 5 casts a PURR-fect addition to the series
If you thought there weren’t enough animals in Outlander, you’ll be happy to hear about the latest casting. A PURR-fect cast member has been added to Outlander Season 5.
Outlander Season 5 has made its first official casting update. There’s a PURR-fect addition, bringing a new animal into the setting. Last year, Rollo was the first new character cast but this season it’s all about Adso.
For those who haven’t read the novels, we’re getting into spoilery territory for “The Fiery Cross” here. It’s worth the spoilers though!

Outlander Season 5 will see Adso the Cat join the series. Like Rollo, this pet is a little like a stray, although not exactly. Jamie picks up the feline on the road for Claire. The idea is that he’ll keep mice out of Claire’s surgery and it doesn’t take long for him to find a home in her cupboard.
Poor Rollo when he comes back to Fraser’s Ridge (assuming the show will stick to that part of the storyline). There’s no doubt cat and dog won’t get along. Adso will get on with the children, though.
Where does the name come from? This is a name that Jamie suggests, based on the name of his mother’s cat. At first, Adso is just the size of an average rat but he will get much bigger. It will be interesting to see how this beauty grows on the screen or whether this will need to be adapted slightly.
The series introduced the new cast member on social media, similarly to the way Rollo was introduced. This time, it was Jamie who got to show off the beautiful grey cat that will play the role.
