When the Watch came to Lallybroch, you knew life would completely change. Here are the best lines from Outlander Season 1, Episode 13.

The Watch turned up at Lallybroch and Jamie was in immediate danger. However, it certainly gave us an interesting episode, setting up for the final stretch of the season. Here are my five favorite lines from Outlander Season 1, Episode 13.

No, Taran, we like to leave the robbing to you.

More from Opinion

Jenny does steal the show in this episode for sure. When Taran points out that he thought Jamie was a robber, Jenny stands up to him. She’s not afraid to point out that she knows he’s stolen things before. But there’s nothing she can do about it.

This line really sets the relationship that has formed between Jenny, Ian, and the Watch. It sets up for a potential relationship in the future had Horricks not turned against them.

Grannie MacNab says ye should drink a tea of raspberry leaves and rosehips when the moon is waxing.

While Claire has never said it, Jenny is observant. She can tell that Claire would like to be a mother, so offers advice without making it seem like she’s prying. It sounds like she’s just making conversation but even Claire can tell that there’s more to this.

Jenny is one of my favorite characters. She can be stubborn and mean at times, but she’s also kind and loving to those she is close to. In this moment, we see her and Clair becoming sisters and this line continues that bond as Jenny doesn’t judge and just shares what she’s heard.

You get down on yer knees and promise God anything he asks if he’ll just keep them safe.

I think Claire tries to take Jenny’s mind off labor by asking about what pregnancy and childbirth is like, but we do get this moment. Jenny says everything that even now expectant mothers think and do. We just want our bairns to be safe as we’re growing them because, at this point, there’s very little we can do for them.

There’s so much emotion in this line. It stands out for all the right reasons.

But no man can stand up to that monster Randall alone, not you, not me. It takes an army. The watch is our army now.

Ian has to justify why he’s working with The Watch. While there’s a line just before it that I like — when Ian talks about how Taran doesn’t look with pity at Ian’s disability — this one is the one that really stands out. Ian doesn’t want anything to happen at Lallybroch like has happened in the past.

Working with the Watch is just a necessary evil to keep Randall at bay. And it’s clear that it will take more than one person to take Randall down, so it’s not surprising that Jamie would never get one over on Randall until Culloden.

Horrocks that dirty b*****d must’ve cut a deal with them…Delivering the watch to buy his freedom.

Whenever I get to this point in the series, I’m still surprised that anyone thought they could trust Horricks. He’d already deserted the British and he’d made it clear to Jamie and Ian that he would never have kept Jamie’s secret without constantly being paid. Why would Jamie even think that Horricks would hold up to other deals?

This line wasn’t a surprise. However, I am glad it was used because it make it clear how the ambush happened.
