Billy Boyd’s character on Outlander Season 4, Episode 11

It’s time to finally see Billy Boyd on Outlander Season 4. His character, Neil Forbes, will appear in Sunday night’s episode.

While Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian head out in search for Roger in Outlander Season 4, Episode 11, Jocasta Cameron attempts to marry off her pregnant great-niece. One of those potential suitors is a lawyer and it’s time to see Billy Boyd’s character in action.

Boyd was one of five actors named in a casting announcement back in August, and he’s the last of the five to appear on screen. He was listed as playing a character called Gerald Forbes. But wait, now his name is Neil? Don’t worry; neither is a typo.

The man goes by both names in “Drums of Autumn.” However, he’s predominately known as Neil and is an attorney at Cross Creek. It’s his role as an attorney that initially brings him to River Run, as Jocasta wants to update her will in the books. And of course, that’s what’s going to lead to him meeting Brianna.

What we can gather from the trailer is that Forbes is interested in Brianna. There’s a quick glimpse of Boyd in the trailer, looking up at Brianna as she walks down the stars. Phaedre excitedly tells Brianna that he’s planning to ask Brianna to marry him, and you can tell that’s the last thing that Brianna wants to consider doing. After all, she knows she’s promised to another.

If the writers stick to the books, this won’t be the last we’ll see of Boyd. Of course, this will depend on whether Boyd can fit filming into his schedule and whether there is a need for the character in the future. However, while he’s only in the one episode of Season 4, we may see more of Neil Forbes in the future.
