Is Lizzie’s view of Roger and Brianna’s conversation going to cause problems in Outlander?
Lizzie got a unique view of Roger and Brianna reuniting in Outlander Season 4, Episode 8. Will this cause problems in the future of the series?
Outlander Season 4, Episode 8 delivered both Brianna and Roger’s reunion and Brianna’s rape at the hands of Stephen Bonnet. Lizzie got a look at the initial reunion between the 20th-century characters, which delivered a far more nefarious view than what was really going on. Will this cause a problem in the future?
There are no book spoilers in this post. I like to make as many posts as possible book spoiler-free as possible. It’s only fair for those who haven’t read ahead in the series (and I haven’t gotten past “Drums of Autumn” yet, either, but I do know spoilers. Plus, the show has made changes, so this post is based on things we’ve seen in the show.

We’ll most likely see Lizzie make an assumption. It’s easy to understand why. Lizzie saw Brianna and Roger arguing. It looked like Roger pulled Brianna to somewhere private for dark and twisted reasons.
Lizzie has no idea who Roger is. Brianna probably hasn’t even mentioned him considering she keeps her cards close to her chest. The meek woman will just believe that Roger is a man of this time and looking to use Brianna. Considering Brianna returns bloody and may admit to Lizzie that she’s been raped, Lizzie will understandably jump to conclusions that Roger was the one involved.
After all, Lizzie hadn’t seen Stephen Bonnet. She has no idea what happened in the inn below the bedrooms. For all Lizzie knows, Roger was the only man Brianna had a run-in with.
I do believe that Lizzie will cause problems but not in spite of anyone. She’s jumping to the wrong conclusions based on the events that she’s seen and Brianna likely won’t tell Lizzie the full truth. It’s going to take time for everyone else to learn the events that truly happened on that day/night.
Do you think Lizzie will jump to the wrong conclusions? Will she make a dangerous mistake for Roger? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
