5 best lines from Outlander Season 4, Episode 7
With Brianna and Roger now in the past, we got an episode focused on their character development. Here are my five favorite lines from Outlander Season 4, Episode 7.
Outlander Season 4, Episode 7 took Roger and Brianna down the rabbit hole and to places they never expected. While Roger went straight on his journey across the Atlantic, Brianna found herself stuck and almost trapped in Laoghaire’s home.
It was a fun episode, seeing more character development for a variety of characters. Now with Brianna and Roger on their way to America, it’s time for everyone to come together. Eventually, at least.

‘Tis roasted pigeon
There was something about this line the moment it was said. I just burst out laughing, especially with the look from Brianna. She tried not to look disgusted and attempted to come up with some sort of reasoning behind her confusion of pigeon for chicken, but it was clear that she wasn’t quite impressed.
However, this also pointed out Laoghaire’s financial situation. Chicken was too expensive to cook, although that’s something we’d take for granted now.
When I was a young lass, he took a beating for me. And he would steal kisses from me whenever he had the chance.
This line from Laoghaire is important to me. It shows her side of the story. She believed that Jamie loved her. Later, Brianna makes it clear that was never the case but, to be honest, would she have even known? It’s clear that Laoghaire was sure that the beating and the kisses meant something.
The line continues with Laoghaire talking about how Jamie was bewitched. I never did think that Laoghaire was just acting out a spite. She was a woman of her time and suspicious, so naturally, she thought Claire was a witch. Why else would Jamie have fallen for a Sassenach?
It’s Randall, after Frank, the man who raised me.
As Laoghaire learns that Brianna’s mother is Claire, the tension rises. It’s clear that Laoghaire has plenty of ill-will against this woman and now it’s turning on Brianna. However, this line is beautiful.
Earlier in the season, Brianna had made it clear that she was a Fraser. Now in Outlander Season 4, Episode 7, she shares her last name is Randall. She’s kept hold of the name of the man who raised her. After all, he is her dad, regardless of what paternity will say.
I did also wonder at this point in Randall meant something to Laoghaire. She wouldn’t have known the full story of Black Jack, but she might have heard something.
Don’t be silly. You’re too old to get a divorce.
This was another line that I chuckled at, mostly because of the naivety of it. I think it’s something many adult children have thought if they’ve heard of their parents getting a divorce. While it sounds like a silly thing to say, it’s natural to think that age would stop someone being able to enjoy their life, especially in the 1950s.
This was also a moment that I loved seeing. the Frank flashbacks were perfectly used throughout, showing us Brianna’s memories and giving us that other side fo Frank. This capped it off beautifully, as he told her he loved her despite her being angry at him at the time.
You have Jamie’s fire and I don’t just mean his red hair. Ye’re a Fraser through and through.
Part of me loves that Ian immediately took Brianna’s word. Another part of me wishes we could have had more time. I would have loved to see the moment the pearls were slammed on the table. But I’m not dwelling too much on how this part of the story was changed from the book storyline. What I will say is that I loved this line.
Ian is a kind-hearted man who would do anything for family. This moment proves it, as he sends Brianna on her way to find her parents, with the reminder that she has a fiery spirit like her father — and every other Fraser.
