Roger found out that Claire and Jamie die in a fire. Is that really how they’ll die in Outlander? If so, when will it happen?

Outlander Season 4 brought the shocking revelation that Claire and Jamie will die in a fire. And instantly, many people panicked. Does that mean at some point we’ll no longer have Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan on our screens? Will it end up being Brianna and Roger’s story?

Those who have read the books will know the definite answer to the question. I’m not here to ruin the whole book story for you. For those who don’t want books spoilers and are just theorizing the future, this post if most definitely for you.

Another reason I don’t like looking at the books for everything is because the show has made changes a long the way. There is a chance that the book storyline has adapted. There will be a post next week with the book spoilers for those who do want to know how the book plays out, though.

As for the series, will we really end up with a story that doesn’t include Claire and Jamie? I’m going out on a limb to say no. This is Claire and Jamie’s story. The showrunners have always said that it’s Claire’s story and there’s no way they’d get away with killing off their main characters.

Why would the show has the obituary then? We’ve already seen that Claire and Jamie haven’t been able to change history before. Well, there is always the fact that news reporting wasn’t accurate in the past. It’s easy to assume two people have died back then.

All they’d need is two badly burned bodies and people would assume the people who lived there had died. With no dental records and DNA testing, it would have been impossible for people to get an accurate report. And once it’s written, that’s it. The newspaper could write a retraction but once someone has found an obituary, they’re likely to stop researching, right?

This is Claire and Jamie’s story, so it’s extremely unlikely that this is how the two die. The only way it could be is if the report was from the end of 1779, assuming that the story could end at this point. For now, the Frasers are alive and kicking and that’s the way it’s going to stay.
