5 top takeaways from the Outlander Season 4, Episode 4 promo and synopsis
Outlander Season 4, Episode 4 is titled Common Ground. What can be expect based on the promo and synopsis for the episode?
Outlander Season 4, Episode 4’s synopsis and promo are out. It’s set to be an exciting episode, as Claire and Jamie build their home together. However, while exciting, there’s also danger coming.
Meanwhile, we’re back in the 20th century to see how Brianna and Roger will move forward after that explosive fight in the last episode. Whichever side you were on, it’s about to go back to being neutral as Roger attempts to reconnect with his true love.
Here are the promo and synopsis for “Common Ground” before getting into the breakdown. As you would expect from this point, there are going to be some spoilerly teases based on the promo and synopsis.
"Claire and Young Ian begin to build a home at Fraser’s Ridge, but their efforts are stymied by unwelcoming neighbors and a bloodthirsty bear that ravages their settlement. In the 20th century, Roger tries to reconnect with Brianna by searching for proof that her parents found each other in the past, and what he finds shakes him to the core."
5. Roger wants to make amends
More from Spoilers
- Did Bree and Lord John Grey marry in Outlander?
- Outlander Season 7B: Will Diarmaid Murtagh return as Buck MacKenzie?
- Outlander Season 7B: Will Chris Fulton return as Rob Cameron?
- Will Dottie be in Outlander Season 7B?
- 3 characters who definitely won’t return in Outlander Season 7B
Roger’s pride was hurt. He felt humiliated and unloved at the end of the last episode. In a way, he possibly felt used. But now he’s had chance to rethink everything and try to look at things from Brianna’s point of view.
He clearly wants to make amends. The synopsis tells us that he’s going to look for proof that Claire and Jamie found one another. This is something Brianna mentioned she worried about. She assumes that since Claire never came back, she found Jamie again but there’s always that “what if” playing in her mind.
It’s a beautiful gesture from Roger. However, his search will find other information and this is where the next point comes in.
4. This could set up Brianna’s own trip
We know that Roger has news about Claire. The synopsis tells us that Roger finds something that shakes him to the core. Those who have read the books know what this is likely to be but in the books he doesn’t tell Brianna right away. For the sake of time, it looks like the show is changing this very slighty.
What it does mean is Brianna will likely head to Scotland. It looks like it will set up her own trip to the past, which is something we’ve all been waiting for. TVLine had previously told us not to expect this before Thanksgiving. Well, the weekend is after Thanksgiving, so time travel is allowed.
3. The bear scene is coming up
Did you see the bit in the synopsis about the “bloodthirsty bear?” We all knew that the bear killing scene was going to play a part in Outlander Season 4 at some point. It looks like it’s coming up now.
For those who haven’t read the books, that spoilery bit isn’t too much of a spoiler. Seeing the whole scene play out is going to be intense and exciting. Plus, I’ve not told you who kills the bear. Are you ready? I certainly am!
2. Young Ian is back
The last we saw of Young Ian, he’d gone with John Quincy Myers to see the Native tribe for trading. This is a young man who’s excited about the New World and all it has to offer. JQM did promise to return Young Ian safely, which has clearly happened.
It’s just in time for Young Ian to help with the building of Fraser’s Ridge. This is going to be his home, too. Well, at least for now. Plus, he’ll come back with some knowledge but will it be enough for everything that’s about to happen?
1. There’s danger in the wilderness
Now that Claire and Jamie have some land, they’re coming face-to-face with a tribe that isn’t quite as welcoming as some others. Claire mentions in the trailer that she thinks the ghost was meant to be a warning. Was this the tribe that killed him?
Remember that Claire thought the city would be safer. This is going to be part of the reason for thinking that. The question is whether Claire’s knowledge of the time and the future can help her create some sort of peace with the Native tribe. We know that happens at some point but what will it take first?
