We all know Claire and Jamie need to build their own home in Outlander Season 4. First, they’ll head to River Run. What forces them to leave that place?
Outlander Season 4, Episode 2 will see Claire and Jamie make it to River Run. We know the two will eventually build their own home, creating Fraser’s Ridge, and that means leaving Aunt Jocasta’s plantation. Just why would the two consider leaving Jamie’s aunt?
The trailer for the second season may give us some idea as to why this happens. However, it all links back to Claire’s views on slavery. She refuses to be a part of the 18th-century practice of owning slaves and this was something we saw in Outlander Season 3. And it’s about to get her in trouble.
Aunt Jocasta has slaves working on her plantation. Claire’s views are going to be an instant wedge between the two stubborn and passionate women. It’s not surprising to hear that Aunt Jocasta will be wary of his nephew’s English wife.

It’s clearly going to be the storm of people on River Run that forces Claire and Jamie away from the plantation. The trailer shows Jamie stepping in when a slave is being punished. He doesn’t agree with it and the synopsis tells us that Claire and Jamie will need to choose between what’s right and what’s the current law.
By these two newcomers choosing to go against the law of the land, they’ll make instant enemies with the white workers on the plantation. And since they’re guests of Jocasta, the people will head to River Run to threaten Claire and Jamie. Jocasta will have no choice but to ask her nephew and his wife to leave if she wants to protect her home, her life, and her slaves — some of whom aren’t what they would initially seem.
Plus, River Run was always just going to be a stop gap, and a much-needed one after the incident on the boat. There was never the intention of staying there long term. Claire and Jamie just needed to decide where they were going to build their home with the promise of land from Governor Tryon.
