Outlander Season 4: There’s a change to one highly anticipated scene from the books
Changes and adaptations of the book scenes have happened throughout the series. There’s one particular scene that book fans want that has had to change in Outlander Season 4.
Book fans regularly point out that there have been changes throughout the series from the books. Scenes have been missed or adapted slightly. Most of the time, this is due to one of two things: time or money. Outlander Season 4 is going to be no different, with one particular scene changed that fans would like to see.
Those who love the “slippery rock” scene will be disappointed. Maril Davis told TV Insider that while the showrunners and writers know that fans love this particular scene, it wasn’t possible to do it exactly like that in the show. She didn’t say why it had to change, but there are a few factors at play.

We’ll need to remember when these scenes were likely filmed. Scotland faced a harsh winter and that would have meant a few scenes needed adapting or changing to keep the view of North Carolina in humid weather. Then there are cost and time constraints that would have affected the ability to do the scene.
Davis wouldn’t share how the scene has been changed. What’s important is that she didn’t say it would be completely omitted. There’s a chance that the conversation and actions from the scene happen but possibly in a new setting.
The Outlander Season 4 changes will allow book fans to experience the storyline for the first time, in a way. This is actually one of the reasons I’ve always appreciated changes to a story from book to film or TV. I enjoy seeing a new adaptation and not knowing everything that is about to happen. Of course, all the major events are still going to be the same.
