What it’s about: Warrior Nun is a little like Buffy the Vampire Slayer but without the vampires. Instead, the “chosen one” is connected to the church…sort of.
A group of nuns protect the world from the demons of hell. They follow one Warrior Nun in particular, whoever bears the Halo. When the Halo-Bearer dies, the Halo is placed in the body of a dead girl. That dead girl comes back to life and needs to make a choice about what to do with this second chance.
Why watch it: At first, this isn’t a show that would look like it appeals to Outlander fans. In fact, it’s not got the love story and it certainly doesn’t have the time travel. And yet, there’s something alluring about it.
There is the hint of a love story when new Halo-Bearer Ava meets a boy. Well, that boy literally saves her from drowning. They have an immediate connection, but the secrets and destiny Ava hold prevent her from really connecting.
Instead, it’s a story of sisterhood and of trust. It’s one of friendship and of destiny. Ava has to figure out how to fit in with a new group of people while experiencing the world for the first time. Why the first time? You’ll need to watch to find out.
