How will Laoghaire react to Brianna in Outlander Season 4?
With the Outlander Season 4 trailer out, there’s no denying that Brianna travels through the stones. One of the people she’s likely to meet is Laoghaire. Just how will Laoghaire react to Brianna being around?
Ah, Laoghaire MacKenzie MacKimmie. There’s a love/hate relationship for many fans. I’ve never shared the same hated for this character, seeing her as an infatuated girl who, as Murtagh said, would be a lassie when she’s 50. Regardless of your feelings, Laoghaire will be back in Outlander Season 4 in a storyline that will involve Brianna.
I’m going to keep the spoilers to a minimum. We don’t know just how much of this storyline will be taken exactly from the book, so it’s more of a speculation piece with just the show in mind.
Considering the way Laoghaire reacted towards Claire when Claire returned, it wouldn’t be surprising if she reacted in a similar way. Laoghaire will, understandably, be shocked and angry to learn that Jamie had a daughter.

At first, nobody will want to believe that Brianna is really Claire and Jamie’s daughter. Why wouldn’t Claire mention her when she was there? Had she kept this from Jamie, too? Why didn’t he say something if he knew?
But once past the initial shock and doubt, there’s more for Laoghaire to be angry about. Not only has her marriage to Jamie been voided, but now her daughters are at risk. Without Brianna, there was still a chance that Jamie would continue to look out for her children. After all, he was willing to keep paying her damages despite their marriage being void and the fact he didn’t owe her anything.
With Brianna around, there’s a threat. Laoghaire sees yet another reason for Jamie never to return to her. Even though they didn’t share a bed for years, Jamie was hers for a short time. In her mind, she’d won this non-war with Claire. Brianna is just another reminder she’s lost.
Plus, considering how much Laoghaire hates Claire, there are going to be some similar feelings towards Brianna in Outlander Season 4. Did Claire tell Brianna anything about Laoghaire before going through the stones? It would be interesting to know if Brianna knows anything before going to the past like the way Marsali already had an opinion of Claire without meeting her.
