There are two months and counting until Outlander Season 4 hits our screens. As a start to the countdown, it’s time to look at what we know so far about the season.

While we may have been counting down the days for Season 3 this time last year, we’re still counting in weeks for Outlander Season 4. However, there are just two months left, which means eight-and-a-half weeks or 62 days left until Claire and Jamie return to us.

It’s been a difficult Droughtlander, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We can see hope and we already know more than we would initially think. Here’s a look at everything we know about Outlander Season 4 so far to get ready for the upcoming episodes.

Note that this is as spoiler-free as possible. There’s just a mention of overall book moments but not the nitty-gritty details.

It’s based on Drums of Autumn

More from Outlander News

Let’s start with the fact that Outlander Season 4 is based on the book “Drums of Autumn.” For the most part, the showrunners are sticking with the original story. Shortly after the third season wrapped, the showrunners admitted that there would be timelines slightly out of sync compared to the book but the main and important storylines will be there.

One of those storylines revolves around Brianna. She’ll have an encounter with a certain pirate. This storyline is being handled with the current #MeToo climate but is set to be the same as in the novel.

There’s a whole New World

Claire and Jamie will need to brave the New World. They’ll set up a home and find out the true meaning of family.

Now that they’ve landed in Georgia, they’ll head to North Carolina, where Jamie’s Aunt Jocasta Cameron lives. She’s a plantation owner with a few secrets of her own. It will be interesting to see the MacKenzie traits in her.

For those who haven’t heard, Maria Doyle Kennedy will play Jocasta, with Colin McFarlane in the role of Ulysses, who is Jocasta’s slave with a twist. Jocasta may or may not help Jamie and Claire get settled in the new world, where they decide to stay.

The Colonies are certainly dangerous. A war is brewing and there are signs of other time travelers around. In the Outlander Season 4 promo, Claire found a skeleton with silver fillings, which shouldn’t happen for another 100 years.
