The Outlander conventions were plagued with cancellations. Yet the Creation Ent Supernatural conventions are popular and rarely have guest cancellations. Why is that?
Creation Ent puts on a lot of conventions throughout the year. This year, they offered official Outlander conventions, which were quickly plagued with main guests canceling. Yet, the Supernatural conventions very rarely have main guest cancellations, unless for health reasons.
Why are the two so different? How can one fandom get it so good and the other suffer multiple disappointments?

It all comes down to the guests and their projects. One of the benefits of the Supernatural cast is that they mostly just work on their own show. That’s especially the case for the main stars, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. They film 22-23 episodes a year (although this year 20 episodes) and use their other time to spend with their family and work on their own projects on their own schedule. They don’t have the time or want for other filming projects the way the Outlander stars do.
Plus, the Supernatural main stars are contracted to doing Creation Ent conventions only. There’s no risk of other conventions getting in the way, with exception of SDCC, which Creation can work around.
This means no filming and no promo for other projects getting in the way. So, they can stick to the planned schedule.
The Outlander main stars are a little different. Their careers are only just taking off and they have other projects they want to do that aren’t on their own schedules. They have to work to production companies’ schedules. Sometimes their passports are stuck with the visa office.
It also doesn’t help that the Outlander conventions are still pretty new. In fact, Outlander conventions as a whole are still relatively new compared to Supernatural, so the stars aren’t as used to their fans paying extortionate amounts to attend these events far and wide.
In the future, the Creation Ent Outlander conventions may work out a little better. It takes time to get to a point where the Supernatural conventions are. It also takes patience and perseverance to pull it all off.
