Tobias Menzies: 10 greatest roles outside of Outlander
10. Black Mirror
Character: Liam Monroe
Air date: Feb. 25, 2013
About the character: The character Liam Monroe was one of those many disliked. As the leader of the Conservative Party in the series, he manipulated and taunted to get his own way. With scandals and attacks on other people, it wasn’t surprising that he managed to, in a way, con his way to the top.

Why it deserves a spot: Tobias Menzies was only in one episode of Black Mirror, in the episode titled “The Waldo Moment.” As an anthology series, that’s not surprising. There was never a need to bring his character back.
However, this was the episode that showed us he could take on a character that people hated. This was before Outlander, so before we had a chance to see him in the role of Black Jack Randall. He was conniving and manipulative and it was easy to see how he could worm his way to the top.
This was even more poignant in 2016 when the U.S. Presidential Elections took twists and turns. Suddenly, the whole Black Mirror storyline was even more believable than ever and Tobias Menzies sold it with a passion. He wasn’t even the main character in the whole episode, but he took on the role and we forgot he was Tobias.
