Outlander Season 1, Episode 2 recap: 5 thoughts when rewatching
Yesterday marked the anniversary of Outlander Season 1, Episode 2, which meant a rewatch of the episode. Here are five thoughts I had while rewatching it yet again.
I don’t need an excuse to rewatch Outlander, but I’ll happily take one when it’s on offer. Aug. 16 was the anniversary of the second episode, which was actually the first made purely for the viewers.
One thing I love about rewatching is how it’s easy to spot things I didn’t the first. There are thoughts I have knowing how it will all turn out in the end. I can take my mind out of the overall story or stop trying to guess where the story will go and purely watch for enjoyment.
Now I’ve read the books, I can also look at the elements that have changed. So, here are my top five thoughts I had while rewatching Outlander Season 1, Episode 2, titled “Castle Leoch.”
5. I still love the look at what Frank does

Because the first novel is told purely from Claire’s perspective, some elements are missing. That’s not the case with the TV show. We get to see what Frank is up to. While it may be Claire imagining what he’s doing, it wouldn’t be far from the truth.
I love that the show took the chance to revisit Frank. What I didn’t realize the first ever time I saw it was that Reverend Wakefield was the one with him. The first time I thought it was a policeman with him. Now I just love that we see both men.
Seeing Frank’s story was really just to add Tobias Menzies in more (and I’m not disappointed by that in the slightest) but it really did add more to Frank’s character development. We saw everything he did, refusing to believe that she had just run off with someone else. There was a sense that he knew her in some way.
