Outlander Season 1, Episode 7: The Wedding

Some of my all-time favorite Outlander episodes are from the first season. It isn’t surprising that “The Wedding” is my favorite. I don’t know if my reasons are for the same reasons as others, as I hate the fact that Claire got drunk the night before and was still drunk at the time of her wedding. Don’t get me wrong, I could understand why, but I disliked it for Jamie’s sake, especially after everything he did to make it the perfect wedding for her.

My favorite part was certainly the way they got to know each other on their wedding night. Claire would keep stalling Jamie, getting to know him more. But they needed that marriage to be consummated.

And it’s this moment that you want to watch the episode for. “A. Malcolm” mirrors a lot of these moments in “The Wedding.”

Outlander Season 1, Episode 13: The Watch

More from Opinion

This will seem like the oddest of episodes to watch when it comes to preparing for the third season but bear with me. Outlander Season 1, Episode 13 has the important development of Jenny and Claire’s bond. It also shows you how hot-headed, stubborn, and opinionated Jenny Fraser Murray is.

In Outlander Season 3, Claire and Jenny have another run in with each other. There were a lot of people upset with Jenny, but I could understand her emotions and where her head was at. Maybe it had been because I’d only recently rewatched “The Watch” before going into the third season, so the way their relationship grew was still fresh on my mind.

Whatever the reason for it, “The Watch” will show you how quickly their bond as sisters-in-law becomes and give some sort of understanding for Jenny’s emotions in the third season.
