Sam Heughan on Jimmy Kimmel Live: Lying for jobs and murals in changing rooms
Sam Heughan chatted with Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday night. Check out the interview, which included a snippet about the lies he’s told to get jobs.
Jimmy Kimmel Live got a Sassenach on the show. No, not the Sassenach you’re thinking of. It was all about Sam Heughan, who is a Sassenach in the States.
While the interview was a chance to promote his upcoming movie, The Spy Who Dumped Me, the conversation moved onto other topics. In one, Heughan shared all about the lying he has done to get jobs in the acting world. One of those lies was that he could ride a horse, which is a lie he’s admitted to in the past.
However, recent lies have been about accents. In The Spy Who Dumped Me, he has an English accent for the most of it but does slip into an American one. This is likely linked to the spy storyline so he fits in, but the question about whether he could actually do those accents came up. Do casting directors check first?

Well, it turns out they don’t. They just have to hope that the lies are really the truth. Heughan shares a little about what his Canadian accent is like, as he’s said he can do that before–and has even lied to say he’s from the States and Canada. Oh dear!
The interview also included a fun bit about his time in Budapest, where most of his upcoming movie was filmed. He shares all about a mural that was painted in the changing rooms.
