While Outlander may not be at SDCC 2018, that doesn’t mean there won’t be anything fun for you. As well as the Outlander fan panel, there’s one that may help you understand more about the book adaptation process.

Outlander isn’t going to have an official panel at SDCC 2018. All the information is being saved for New York Comic-Con in October, which makes sense with the November start date. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t some fun you can have as a Claire and Jamie fan at the West Coast convention. There’s one particular panel that I think will be of major interest to you.

It Didn’t Look That Way in My Head will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. PT in Room 25ABC. It’s a look at how stories develop. The panel consists of authors of various books that have been turned into TV shows, including The 100‘s Kass Morgan and the All Souls trilogy author Deborah Harkness.

This is a chance to delve into the worlds that have been created and how they were originally envisioned. Then it’s a chance to learn how those books were adapted for the screen. What the authors may have once viewed turned into something bigger–sometimes better and sometimes worse–for the viewers of the shows and movies.

More from Outlander Fandom

Why will it be interesting for Outlander fans? Well, there are many who want to see everything that Diana Gabaldon has written turned into the TV show. It’s just not possible with budget and time constraints. But also the lens will force things to adapt. There are limitations to the cameras and technology that isn’t a problem when it comes to the imagination.

Plus, everyone views things differently. We focus on different points and have a different world created in our heads. This is what the panel is going to go into.

There won’t be any official live streaming options, unfortunately. I’d love to watch it, but I’ll be on the East Coast this weekend. However, there may be people live tweeting the panel. If you are at SDCC 2018, I do think this is going to be extremely interesting for Outlander fans.
