Is Colin O’Donoghue really in Outlander Season 4?

Rumors started yesterday that Once Upon a Time’s Colin O’Donoghue would be in Outlander Season 4. It turns out it was just a Twitter-tag mistake.

Caitriona Balfe made a mistake she’s not going to be let to live down for a while. Yes, it’s that Twitter-tag error and it does look like she’s seeing the funny side. However, it has raised a question: Is Colin O’Donoghue joining Outlander Season 4? Even just a guest spot would be enough for some.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like he is. After receiving the tag, he quickly took to Twitter with an “Erm…” This was followed up by a conversation between Richard Rankin and O’Donoghue about him keeping his role on the show quiet. He even kept it a secret from himself.

However, we’d love to see O’Donoghue on the show. The British actor has already stolen hearts as Killian Jones/Hook in Once Upon a Time. He’s also a friend of various Outlander cast members, so it’s not surprising that Balfe made the Twitter-tag error. As a pirate on one show, he’d make an excellent addition to Outlander Season 4 in some way, shape, or form. Maybe a pirate that turns to the good side?

Balfe quickly confirmed that O’Donogue wouldn’t be guest starring and that she was just #StartingRumours. Boo!

Of course, O’Donoghue not guest starring in the series is just a “not yet” case. There’s always going to be the chance to bring him into the show. Sam Heughan later tweeted that there’s always Season 5, although this was in response to someone wishing for a crossover between Once Upon a Time and Outlander. Heughan is a Oncer and was sad to see the series come to an end.
