We know Brianna is going to make it to the past in Outlander Season 4. But just how will Claire react to her daughter coming through the stones?
When Claire went through the stones in Outlander Season 3, she was sure that it would be the last time she’d see her daughter. It was an emotional goodbye and, at one point, Claire wasn’t sure whether to leave. Brianna purposely made a sacrifice to allow Jamie to get his wife back. So it’s going to be a surprise when Brianna arrives in the 18th century in Outlander Season 4. Just how will Claire react?
As you would expect, there are spoilers from “Drums of Autumn.” I don’t class Brianna traveling back as a spoiler since it’s something Sophie Skelton has chatted about in interviews and her costumes have been all over social media.
Claire isn’t going to be happy

Once she gets over the shock, Claire understandably isn’t going to be too happy that her daughter traveled through the stones. Well, of course, she’s going to be happy to see Brianna. There’s going to be a sweet family reunion, especially when Jamie has the chance to meet his daughter for the first time.
However, this is a dangerous time period, especially for women. As you’ll notice in the first three seasons, rape is used a lot as a plot device. It was a time that many women were raped, so it shouldn’t be surprising that it comes up again in the fourth season. Claire would naturally be scared that her daughter would become a victim. And we all know that fear becomes a reality.
Sure, Brianna comes back to save her parents, but Claire wouldn’t have wanted her daughter to take that risk.
Claire is going to be scared
Then there’s the issue of rape and pregnancy. Being in the 18th century wasn’t just dangerous for being attacked and raped, but for giving birth. I remember a documentary on pregnancy in the Tudor period, and the documentary said one in five women died in childbirth. That figure stood out as I was pregnant at the time of watching it. That rate would have likely been similar in the 18th century.
During “Drums of Autumn,” Brianna is certain that she’s going to die during childbirth. It’s no wonder that Claire will be scared in Outlander Season 4. She would be terrified that she’d lose her daughter and it would kill her to go through the loss of another child. The pain of losing Faith is still there and that was clear when she and Jamie discussed Faith at the print shop briefly.
