Happy Father’s Day! This is a day to celebrate all the Outlander dads for everything they’ve done.

Fathers come in all shapes and sizes, especially in the world of Outlander. They also come from different time periods! They’ve all stepped up to the plate in their own ways, showing that time doesn’t make too much of a difference. As it’s Father’s Day today, it’s a good chance to spotlight all the Outlander dads, past, present, and future.

There are some spoilers for the future books if you’ve not read them yet.

Brianna’s fathers

More from Opinion

Let’s start with the two men Brianna is proud to call her fathers: Frank and Jamie. While Frank may not have been Brianna’s father biologically, he stepped up and raised her as his own. In fact, it was only after Frank died that Brianna ever knew the truth, showing that he never even showed that she wasn’t his. There are many men like that today and they deserve celebrating–as many do it without any gratitude or even asking.

Then there’s Jamie Fraser. He’s not had the chance to be a dad to Brianna in the Outlander TV series yet, but we’ll get to see that relationship unfold in the fourth season. The books see it unfold further.

Jamie isn’t just one of the Outlander dads to Brianna, though. He’s taken in Fergus, become a father to the young French orphan. This all came to a head in Outlander Season 3, when Jamie officially gave Fergus his last name, making it clear that he viewed the boy as his own; that this was his family. He’s also a father to young Willie, although secretly, and has helped raise Marsali and Joanie in his short, invalid marriage to Laoghaire.
