Various scenes from Outlander Season 3 ended up on the cutting room floor. Was this cut the right choice to make?

Outlander Season 3 had plenty of material that made it to the cutting room floor. Ron D. Moore shared the reasons why the initials never made it to the full season, but what about this scene that Variety shared last week? It’s a scene from the brothel, after Claire and Jamie full reunite.

If you haven’t seen the scene yet, you can check it out in full on the site. However, it’s conversation–and very strange pillow talk, to be honest–as Jamie learns more about what Claire did during her time in the future. Claire shares what a surgeon is in her time and how she saves people, which is something Jamie later saw for his own eyes.

More from Opinion

On the one hand, seeing more Claire and Jamie cuddling together would be good. This scene offered some of that, along with a bit of catch-up of what the two have been up to. Yet, I’m in agreement in this scene ending up on the cutting room floor. It served nothing that other scenes before it didn’t already served or scenes that came after it didn’t serve. While it showed the attraction and love for each other, this also came in various other points after the print shop scene.

The only thing that could have been kept or moved elsewhere was the talk about the feeling between them. There was a connection back to Outlander Season 1, back when Jamie questioned whether the feelings between him and Claire were normal. During the Outlander Season 3 deleted scene, both admit that whatever that feeling is was still there. It’s something many of us would have appreciated hearing at some point in the season.
