Outlander Emmy campaign started already: Cast and crew push for that Emmy nod
Out of all the awards, it’s the Emmys that Outlander has struggled to get into. The campaign for the next Emmy season is already getting into full swing.
Ask any Outlander fan and they will tell you that the show has had poor treatment at the awards shows. This is especially the case for the Emmys, where it’s struggled to get the recognition it deserves. That will hopefully be different this year, with the cast and crew starting their Emmy campaign already.
The cast and crew are taking to Los Angeles for the Emmy screening panel this weekend. So far, our leading man and woman (Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe) and our EPs, along with production designer Jon Gary Steele, are set to take to the panel and discussion to secure that nod. The panel may change on Sunday, but so far everyone is planning to attend. That would explain why the Glasgow filming wrapped up yesterday.

This panel isn’t just a good thing for the Emmys. It’s also going to be a good press event for us. There’s hope that we’ll learn more about Outlander Season 4–and maybe, just maybe, a premiere date. An announcement for Outlander Season 5 would be awesome, but we’ll settle for a premiere date right now.
Since that Outlander sneak peek back in January, the news on the series has been a little slow. We’ve had announcements of minor characters and seen a few filming photos here and there, but nothing major to keep us going. Just something to tease us for the next season right now (to cheer us in Canada and the northern American states from the fresh snow) would be amazing.
The Emmys aren’t until September 2018, but now is the time to start talking about them. After all, the nominations will be announced in July and Outlander certainly deserves a nod. This panel could be just the key needed to get it for Heughan, Balfe, and the producers.
