Part of Glasgow is shut off this week, as Outlander Season 4 continues filming.

Outlander Season 4 filming continues and this time the production is moving to Glasgow. Some of the streets will be closed to the public temporarily to allow the filming to go ahead without a hitch. The filming will be outdoors, allowing fans in the area to get a glimpse of their favorite actors.

Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan will both be in Glasgow filming. Streets around the Saltmarket area of the city will be closed down. Other actors may join them, but there’s currently no official list of who to expect. That’s common with production, especially with Outlander, where the filming has been kept as closed and quiet as possible.

Those who want to avoid spoilers will likely want to remain away from social media for the week and a few days after. There are likely photos from fans who have managed to catch glimpses of the sets. While book fans will already know the storyline, there will possibly be elements that aren’t in the book. Costume designer, Terry Dresbach, recently felt disappointed by a costume spoiler being released, which was a costume not in the books.

People who drive around Glasgow will need to be aware of closures this week. From March 14 to 15, St. Andrews Square’s James Morrison Street and Turnbull Street will be closed. Diversions will be in place from London Road to Saltmarket, ending at Steel Street.

The filming in Glasgow is linked to the Colonies storyline in Outlander Season 4. It will be interesting to see how some of the buildings and architecture are changed to suit the 18th century Colonies. If anywhere, Glasgow is the place for it with some of the beautiful, period buildings.

As long as filming can remain on track, we should still see the filming wrap sometime in June. The Outlander stars have plenty of conventions to attend from July, so they won’t want to have to jump between conventions and filming (or cancel any of their planned appearances).

Outlander Season 4 is still planned for release in fall 2018.
