A Twitter user found a potential date for Outlander Season 4, but it’s a month later than expected. Is this the right date?
October 8, 2018. That’s the date that you may want to put in your diary for Outlander Season 4 on Starz. Twitter user Lynfoley70 shared the potential date she’d found. It’s unclear exactly where this date came from, but she shared a tweet with the question as to whether the date was real.
It’s important to note right now that Starz hasn’t set a date for Season 4’s premiere just yet. All we know for definitely is fall 2018. The dates you may see dotted around right now are just guesses. A prediction here at Claire and Jamie is that the premiere will be either Sept. 9 or Sept. 16, as these dates are the Sundays close to the Season 3 premiere.

Is Oct. 8 a valid date?
But what about this date? Is it possible that the fourth season will premiere a month later than expected?
Well, October is still fall, so it certainly could be. The issue with the date is that it’s a Monday. If Starz was to premiere it then, it would mean the series is moving to a Monday night. That’s not implausible, since the series moved from a Saturday night to a Sunday night, but there isn’t much that suggests the series will do better on a weekday night.

In fact, Outlander could suffer up against the primetime networks. Sundays at 8/7c is a good time for a cable show. It’s the hour before The Walking Dead to avoid competition with that and it’s really only reality shows on other networks. The only prime network to think about for next season is The CW, which is adding in Sundays to its schedule for the 2018-2019 season.
Right now there is definitely no confirmation that Outlander Season 4 will premiere on Oct. 8. There’s nothing to say it won’t, but there’s a lot of reasons not to put it on that night–five networks worth of reasons.
Pushing it back to Oct. also doesn’t make sense. The whole point of renewing for two seasons at the same time was to avoid the long Droughtlander we got between Seasons 2 and 3. This was a chance to set roughly the same date each year for the new season. Pushing to October would go against that!
