Outlander’s Claire and Jamie have an epic romance that has crossed timelines and lasted centuries.
Outlander fans have tuned in for Claire and Jamie’s epic romance for decades. Many have consumed the books more than once since the 1990s, while others have caught the TV series and seen Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe play it out on screen for the last few years.
Their romance has lasted centuries, crossing timelines and somehow calling the ghost of one to the lifetime of another. How all this has happened is still a story to be told, but there is one thing for certain: the romance has ruined the reality.

#1. There’s no many quite like Jamie
Jamie Fraser is a man ahead of his time. While others view women as their property and opt to beat them as they would their children, Jamie has taken a different path. Sure, he originally followed the advice of other men, but realized that Claire was different and he wanted a different life with her; he wanted them to be equals, following expectations from her time.
In today’s world finding a man like this is much easier. But what if in 200 years time women are the heads of the household? What if we’re in a matriarchal society? How many men now would be able to accept a woman from that time the way Jamie has accepted Claire?
#2. They have a bond that crosses timelines
The two souls are from 200 years apart, but they’ve found each other. Okay, time travel isn’t possible but what if it was? How many people would choose to leave the conveniences of the 20th or 21st centuries behind for a lover? While we’d all like to believe we would, there are slim chances it would happen, especially when there is a man who’s loved in our own time.
Claire and Jamie have a bond that wasn’t broken, despite 20 years apart—as they lived 200 years away from each other. They burned for each other throughout that time, getting through their days as best they could. It’s not often a love like that comes around.
#3. The support no matter what
Both Claire and Jamie have found themselves at the opposite side of opinions before. They have their different views on punishment, marriages, and their own actions. Yet, no matter what, they have eventually supported each other. Even after Claire questioned returning after 20 years, she gave things a chance and support Jamie’s need to get his nephew back.
Every time Claire has done something to get herself in trouble, Jamie has been there. “Crème de Menthe” didn’t quite fit the character, but all other moments throughout the last three seasons have.
#4. They both look amazing even when on the run
Claire fell through the stones and found herself instantly on the run from the British. After rolling around in the mud and dragging herself through the forest, she still looked great. Okay, dirt covered but the beauty was still there.
Likewise with Jamie. Despite a dislocated shoulder and covered in blood, he looked gorgeous. It was clearly love at first sight for Jamie, although took a little longer for Claire for obvious reasons. There’s no way that we’d look that amazing when being dragged through hedges and shot at!
