Various cable companies are changing the terms to access older Outlander episodes.
If you’re an Outlander fan who loves to watch the older episodes, you may be disappointed to hear the latest news. Cable companies across the United States are making changes to the way people can view episodes from Seasons 1 and 2. Some (not all) are charging for the privilege, making it clear that there is still a benefit to having the DVDs.
Fans have taken to Facebook groups to share their disappointment over the change. Overnight they realized they could only get Season 3 on-demand and even that’s not sticking around. Some have shared that the third season will go behind a pay wall from April 2018.

This seems to be in response to Starz’s charge to cable companies carrying the network. While Altice has chosen not to carry the network anymore, other cable companies have seen reason to keep it. However, they are charging fans of shows to watch older content. Some fans have decided to sign up to Starz instead, while others have discussed the other options available.
One of the biggest discussions is in having the Outlander DVDs. With the move to online media, many people have decided against buying full season boxsets. However, this latest move by some companies proves the benefit of getting the season boxsets. At least once you have them, there’s no need to worry about cable companies changing their terms almost without warning. You can watch the episodes whenever you want.
Having the DVDs is also a benefit when you want to watch with no internet access. There are no streaming issues and better quality straight to your screen.
