Is there hope for Brianna and Roger in Outlander? [Spoilers]

Outlander Season 3 showed the blossoming romance between Brianna and Roger, but will it last?

Book fans know exactly what will happen between Brianna Randall Fraser and Roger Wakefield MacKenzie. But there are so many others out there who need to know the truth. Will that blossoming romance between them in Outlander Season 3 lead to anything beyond?

Things are not going to be easy for the pair in the next book. Brianna is a strong-willed, independent young woman. She’s shown her willingness to stand on her own two feet, as she deals with and processes all the information she’s received over the last year.

Meanwhile, Roger has this love for Scottish history and this need to research. He continued searching for Jamie in the show when Claire and Brianna returned home. This is a man like a dog with a bone and it’s understandable that he would pursue Brianna is much the same way.

So, is there hope? Will the two fall in love and live happily ever after?

It’s not going to be easy

This isn’t something that happens overnight. While the two will eventually be together, they’re not just going to get married and start a family. They have other priorities.

One of those is Brianna’s need to save her parents. After reading about a house fire, she takes off through the stones without Roger in tow. Roger eventually goes after her, but then has to figure out where Brianna has gone.

When they finally meet up, they do go through a handfasting ceremony with the intention of marrying later. But it’s still not all rainbows and sunshine. Roger has been somewhat deceitful with some information and Brianna struggles to handle that. After all, she’s been lied to all her life about her parentage.

There is still hope after that

With all that being said and without giving too much away, this is a relationship you will want to root for. While they have their ups and downs, Diana Gabaldon has painted a very realistic relationship. This isn’t about breaking up just to keep the story interesting, but putting realistic wedges between them; hurdles that they have to jump over to be together again.

You will go back and forth between feelings for them. There are times you’ll wonder if there’s hope, but there is. Hold onto it as you make your way through the books and through Outlander.
