What to expect for Jamie in Outlander Season 7B based on the books
We still have a month and a half to go before Outlander Season 7B premieres, but that doesn’t mean we’re not excited. There is a lot to look forward to.
Book fans are ready for some big storylines to come in the next eight episodes. The titles of the episodes look to confirm some of those big moments, and they’re sure to shock those who haven’t read the books.
There are those who haven’t read the books and would like to know what’s to come. So, we’re delving into the book spoilers for this post, and we’ll do a series of them for each of the main characters we know will return in Outlander Season 7B as we close in on the premiere date.
So yes, spoilers for the books! You’ve been warned.
Jamie will make it to Lallybroch in Outlander Season 7B
We ended Outlander Season 7A with Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian making it back to Scotland. It has been years since they’ve been back, and they’re sure to see a lot has changed. Based on a promotional photo, we know that Jamie makes it back to Lallybroch, so that’s not really a book spoiler. What is a book spoiler is what he finds while he’s there.
Ian Murray is close to death from consumption. At the same time, Laoghaire causes problems again as she wants her alimony for Jamie’s bigamy. Well, Jamie and others manage to get a plan together to deal with the Laoghaire problem. They manage to catch her with another man, living with him as if they are together. That getting out could ruin a lot for Laoghaire, so she and Jamie will come to an agreement.
It also helps in the book that Laoghaire gets a letter about Henri-Christian being ill. Claire has a remedy for what ails Henri-Christian, and Laoghaire begs her to go out to save her grandson. She doesn’t realize just how much Claire loves the boy and would go out anyway, and Laoghaire offers to leave Jamie completely alone and never ask for money again if Claire goes to save Henri-Christian. It’s a deal!
That separates Claire and Jamie again. This is where some of the drama comes, as Jamie and Jenny write to Claire to say that they are going to be on a particular ship. When that ship sinks, everyone believes Jamie and Jenny to be dead.
Jamie gets back home to find his wife has remarried in Outlander
In a shocking turn of events, Jamie and Jenny ended up on a later ship. When they get to Philadelphia, Jamie finds out that Claire and Lord John Grey believed that Jamie had died at sea. The two married, and hearing that they consummated their marriage makes Jamie see red.
This looks like the end of Jamie and John’s friendship, as Jamie beats John to a pulp and leaves him in the forest. Jamie and Claire’s relationship is a little strained at first, but he can understand why Claire did it. The two are able to move past this.
Around them at this point, the Revolutionary War continues. We know that Jamie will don a blue coat in Outlander Season 7B. Yes, he does fight for George Washington. In fact, he fights in the Battle of Monmouth, which is a huge moment in the story and leads to Jamie almost losing Claire.
Then there’s William, who learns that Jamie is his father. Jamie wants to make matters right with his son, but William isn’t interested. Jamie decides that he will have to wait for William to come to him.
That's just a brief look into the An Echo in the Bone and Written in My Own Heart's Blood storylines that are likely to come in Outlander Season 7B.
A book storyline that may not make it into the show
There is one book storyline that we may not see make it into the show. That is when Jamie ends up suffering from a bad back and Sylvia Hardman and her daughters take him in. Sylvia’s husband had gone off to war and is presumed dead, and she is just trying to make ends meet and keep her daughters alive. That means through questionable means, but Jamie is a gentleman around her and her daughters.
Sylvia does end up with more of a storyline in Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. I just don’t see this playing out in the show because there won’t be enough time for it.
