Outlander: Blood of My Blood finds its Red Jacob, Davina Porter, and more
The world of Outlander: Blood of My Blood continues to grow. Four more actors have joined the Outlander prequel, including Peter Mullan, who will take on the role of Red Jacob.
The prequel is set in two periods. So far, we have the four leading actors who will play the two couples to follow. However, all the rest of the casting has been focused on the 18th century storyline. That’s the case with the latest announcement.
Announcing the cast for the 18th century storyline makes sense. We already have an idea as to who will turn up considering the snippets from the prequel novel by Diana Gabaldon and the story Jamie has told about his parents. When it comes to Claire’s parents, the only character we really know to expect other than them is Uncle Lamb.
Red Jacob and Davina Porter cast in Outlander: Blood of My Blood
Just as we thought, Red Jacob is part of the prequel story. This makes so much sense considering how Red Jacob is Ellen’s father and didn’t force her to marry someone she didn’t want to marry. It was Colum and Dougal, her brothers, who tried to force a marriage.
Peter Mullan will take on the role of Red Jacob in the prequel. You’ll recognize him from Payback and Ozark among many other shows and movies.
Davina Porter has also been cast. For those wondering, yes, this character is named after the narrator of the Outlander audiobooks. Diana Gabaldon has put in the names of characters as a nod to those in the show as well as the real Porter. Davina is the Lovat housekeeper and mother of Brian Fraser.
Sara Vickers will take on the role of Davina. You can see her in the likes of Watchmen and Endeavour.
Two Grants cast in the Outlander prequel
Now for the other two cast members joining Outlander: Blood of My Blood. Brian McCardie and Jhon Lumsden are joining the series. They will play two important Grant characters.
McCardie Is Isaac Grant, the leader of Clan Grant. Lumsden will play Malcolm Grant, Isaac’s son.
Malcolm is a potential suitor for Ellen MacKenzie. Many clans married into each other as a way to build loyalty and protection from warring clans. Ellen wasn’t interested in Malcolm, so Red Jacob didn’t push for that marriage. However, it becomes a problem after Jacob’s death, especially as Ellen falls for Brian Fraser.
At least, that’s the story Jamie has told us based on things Brian and Murtagh have said. It will be interesting to see what the real story is.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood is coming to Starz.
